It all started with the need for self confidence. Once you’re bullied, it can take a toll on your psyche and your ability to flourish begins to wane. I was young and seeking a path that was uplifting, supportive, and going to play a role in curating simply ‘a better way for me’. It has been nothing but life-changing and exposing other women to the opportunity, to feel this good, and make a difference in the lives of others–is a true blessing.
The Pageantry World Changed My Life
I am a big proponent in the following–Pageantry is not a competition, It’s a ‘Doorway to Opportunities’. From the outside looking in, one can form so many opinions. The lessons you learn from this experience is something to behold. Not only about yourself and what you can accomplish, but the effect you can have on others to follow in the same footsteps. It’s really nice to see the true sphere of influence and take part in watching it flourish.
What I have Learned
There’s a lot of ‘you’ in this, so, of course, you are learning and growing. Your ability to communicate evolves, your leadership skills enhance, from interviewer to interviewee, the roles change. And, oh the poise, please let it get its praise, as we are so perfectly poised, for more than adequate representation. It’s amazing to see! Pageantry really is a doorway for those who want to be on stage and give back. Giving back is a big part of it for me and my family. I have three children that I am paving a way for. They all give back and it’s beautiful to see.
Family & Friendships Abound
The wonderful ladies you compete with truly become your family. I am still friends with so many people I have met throughout the years as we consider ourselves a sisterhood! Pivoting back to that support system, it can really give women the backbone they need to thrive, and the encouragement they need to engage life in a very unique way. The possibilities and opportunities are endless and it takes a certain kind of person. I love what the pageantry world has given me and I hope to pass this on to many women for many more years to come!
