In an effort to broaden my outreach I am teaming up with Safe Kids Worldwide coalitions and/or chapters across the country as part of my advocacy for their organization and as Mrs. South Florida International. Last weekend I attended a car seat safety checkpoint in Las Vegas and learned a very important tip from these folks. Did you know that that the angle of a car seat is crucial when it comes to newborns under 3 months of age? The angle is very important because if their head tilts forward resulting in their chins to rest on their chest that cuts off breathing and they are not able to lift their head to open airflow.
Preventable injuries are the #1 killer of children in the United States. Between my work with SKW and now through the CAP Challenge, it has become my mission to do all I can in terms of raising awareness and getting individuals on board to do their part in making a difference and ultimately saving a life. I encourage you all to get involved with an organization of your choice, something that hits near-and-dear to your heart and be a part of changing the landscape today for the future of our children. We all have to start somewhere and together we all can make a difference, one step at a time.
Next on my agenda, I am headed to Dallas Texas, where I will run a 5k with the SKW local coalition and also attend a daylong event meeting and greeting area children. To stay in the loop to all I am up to these days in the final weeks prior to the Mrs. Florida International Pageant coming up at the end of May be sure and follow me on Facebook @ Facebook/LindseyBerman or on Instagram/LinzBerman.
